Christmas Stuff

I guess it's time to update; it's been over a month so I'm way past due.

Before we left for home for Christmas we got to go over to Kirtland where they had some lights and a lot of nativity sets from all over the world. It was a little difficult with Kylan because all she wanted to do was grab EVERYTHING and the sister missionaries were watching us like hawks but it was fun and cold so we made it a short trip.

Above and below are pictures from Christmas Eve with Kurt's family. We had just went and ate at Johnny Carino's (yum!) and came back to open presents so we could get ahead of the huge snow storm. By this time it was past Kylan's nap time so she was a little ornery and not too interested in opening presents. At the time she was more fascinated with Presley's present but now loves her cabbage patch kid; she's fascinated with it's "panties."

Christmas morning we spent with my family and as you can see I'm not quite awake! Kylan was a little more excited to open presents and had fun tearing things apart. As you can see she LOVES jewelry and she spent most of the time playing with her necklaces. This Christmas was alot funner with her being older and I'm sure they'll get better and better.

Lookin' like Christmas

Every morning when Kylan and I get up we look out the window and stare and these pretty red trees. Well, Friday morning we woke up to this, I've never seen the combination of snow and red trees. Very festive!

We decided to put up the Christmas tree Friday and had a heck of a time doing so. We got out all the Christmas stuff and started wrapping the tree in lights when Kurt said, "Ya know we probably should have plugged these in to make sure they work," so we unwrapped the strand we had just put on and plugged them in and what do ya know they didn't work so we proceeded to check the rest of the lights and on 2 of the strands only half them worked so we did a little handywork here and there and got one strand to work and put them on the tree then plugged them in and they went back to not working. After a couple hours of trying to get lights to work Kurt finally gave in and went and bought all new lights. In the end it really came together and I really like our tree this year! I'm working on collecting and making more ornaments to fill it up a bit more, but it's better than the 1st year we got married when all we had on our trees was rafia bows.

Thanksgiving

We had a really great Thanksgiving with a few other Podiatry students and their families. The food turned out excellent considering we were all 1st timers with making Thanksgiving dinner, I must say I was impressed as to how well it turned out!

Kylan finally mastered coming down the stairs. It took her a few times sliding down head first before she figured out to just turn around.

Kylan, Lyza, and the Borers just chillin' reading a book.

Experiment

I was extremely bored the other day so I started to experiment with Kylan's hair and she actually held still just barely long enough for me to attempt to braid it. I must say I was pretty proud of myself, and her for that matter for putting up with me always messing around with her hair.

Halloween

We had a pretty fun Halloween this year. Kurt finally found the time to carve pumpkins and I think they turned out pretty good. Of course Kurt HAD to do a bat, he's still wishes he was Batman!

Halloween night a fellow podiatry student and his wife had a party at their house which was alot of fun. They live in a really nice neighborhood and everyone just sat out on their sidewalks with their candy so you didn't even have to walk up to the door for the most part. The weather was perfect, just needed a jacket. Kylan spent the majority of the time chasing around their 2 little dogs and didn't seem to care much about the candy. I had a hard time getting a good shot of her in her monkey costume, she just wouldn't hold still so this is as good as it gets.

Our little munchkin

I think today has been the prettiest & nicest day for weather since we've been here. It's almost the end of October and Kylan's still wearing shorts! I could get used to this. We decided to go for a walk in the park before her nap today and it was perfect. Just a little breeze and the leaves were falling all around us. We had a good time.

She looks like she's gonna tip right over doesn't she? Somehow she stays up!

Her favorite is the swings. It think if I'd let her she'd sit in it all day.

The other morning for breakfast she insisted that her 2 biggest stuffed animals, Ducky and Teddy, sit and eat with her. That was a challenge but we made it through breakfast without too much of a mess.

Fall

Living in Idaho I never really new why people would say their favorite season was Fall. I personally didn't like Fall at all. Living in Cleveland has flip-flopped my thinking. Fall really is my favorite season now. I remember in elementary school they would talk about all the different colors leaves and I only remember seeing 2 colors, brown & yellow. I am blown away at how many different colors of leaves there really are! Every shade of yellow, orange, red, gold, some even look pink. I love living here now!

This shot is just right outside our porch, it's what I get to open the blinds and see every morning! Not too shabby 'eh?
These red trees are my favorite, this is right in front of our apartment complex. I'm amazed at how bright they are!

When we came home from the pumpkin patch Saturday the sun was just peaking through these trees behind our apartment and I thought it was gorgeous!

These are of the park that Kylan and I go to. This is just a glimpse of the path that we walk on. It makes me feel like I'm not in the city because it's so peaceful and quiet.

Ward Party

Saturday night was our ward Halloween party. Kylan dressed up as a monkey again this year. The costume fit her perfectly this year.
They had karaoke going on and a friend of ours said that he'd play Settlers of Catan with us if Kurt got up on stage and sang. Well, not only did he have to sing he had to wear his friend's inflatable horse and hat! Oh my goodness, I haven't seen Kurt that wacky in a long time. He sang Toby Keith's "Beer for my horses" which fit the outfit perfectly! He made a complete fool of himself but it was hilarious. A lady in the ward got it on video so I am working on getting that so I can post it on the blog. He wanted to sing Garth Brooks' "Rodeo" as a repeat performance from when he was like 8 but they didn't have the song.

Pumpkin Patch

Saturday we went to a pumpkin patch about 20 minutes away. It was alot of fun! They had a corn maze, hayrides, pumpkin patch, apple orchards, and a store with anything you could imagine made out of apples.

View from the top of the hill, down below is where the pumpkin patch, corn maze, and hayrides were.

Another pretty view from the top of the hill! Aren't the colors amazing?

She looks like a mad mermaid!

Kylan thought the pumpkins were balls so Kurt would hand her one and she would just throw it to the ground.

Kylan's friend Lyza, they're only a month apart. They both know how to cheese-it for the camera!

Us and the Yetters on the hayride, it was a pretty nice day except for the wind so I don't know why Kurt is still wearing his heavy jacket.

The hayrides were pulled by Belgian horses. They were really big! I think this guy was tired, he kept resting his head on the driver behind us.

Ordinary day

So I found this photo editing software that I could try for free and I really like it. You can do some pretty neat things on it so I thought I'd test it out!
Kylan loves to stand at the window and stare a the birds and squirrels.

Lately she has discovered how to open cupboards and her favorite one is with all the pots and pans and bowls. On this particular day she found herself a new chair then right after this picture she tipped over backwards and hit her head and hasn't tried it since!

Yesterday I watched a friends little boy for her and I think Kylan was in heaven! They have the exact same birthday so I was interesting to see how 2 kids the same age have such different personalities already! They had a good time playing together and surprisingly didn't fight at all. Kylan actually cried when he had to leave. I think she gets sick of me and wants a new face to play with some days.
